Why Join IMTA?
| The Iowa Music Teachers Association (IMTA) offers many benefits to its teachers and students. Students will benefit from many non-competitive events where the sole purpose is to gain insight and information in the areas of technique, performance skills, repertoire and all areas related to musicianship. Students may also become involved with competitive auditions through the state or regional and national levels. Scholarships and many other opportunities are afforded each student so music education may continue to play an important role in their lives.
| As an IMTA member, you will be affiliated with your local organization, many of which offer programs, performance opportunities and discussion sessions for teachers.
| The IMTA member will benefit from our mentoring program which provides them with answers concerning non-competitive festivals, competitive auditions, certification, involvement with local and state activities, conferences at the state and national level, teaching tips, repertoire suggestions, guidelines for teaching age-appropriate theory, keyboard proficiency, current technology trends and many other areas of professionalism. The Iowa Music Teacher Magazine (published three times annually), and Summer Newsletter provides information about student events, teaching information, concerts, articles of interest, member directory and other services. | Our affiliation with MTNA allows us access to insurance benefits, teaching aids, performance goals, policy and business information and a vast range of studio resources.
| As the MTNA State Affiliate of the Year in 2006, Iowa is proud of the collegiate faculty, private teachers, students, collegiate chapters, board members and committees who collaborate and continue to network in a way that is valuable to all of our members.
| Our goal through IMTA is to successfully pave the way for each teacher and their students, in order to nurture the standards of music education and the independent teaching studios across the state of Iowa. We welcome you as a teacher of piano, voice, theory, composition or any instrument and encourage you to become a part of this growing organization. | | | | For more information, contact: | | Kristin Taylor, Membership chair | | Joan Hopkins, Mentor chair | | Click here to ask a question. |
