Iowa encourages it members to complete the process for MTNA Certification and will provide mentors for those interested in the procedure.

Currently, Iowa offers one certificate: an Iowa Adjudicator Certificate for those who are Nationally Certified and wish to judge IMTA auditions and festivals. This certificate will be a renewable certificate every five (5) years. To remain on the judges list, members must have entered a minimum of five (5) students through IMTA District Auditions over the five year renewal period. Members holding an MTNA Permanent Certificate will be issued an Iowa Permanent Certificate as well. This certificate is a lifetime certificate with no renewal process necessary.

Requirements for Iowa Adjudicator Certificate:

1. Hold current IMTA/MTNA membership and MTNA Professional Certification
2. High school diploma or equivalent
3. Three (3) years of study in area concerned after age 18
4. Three (3) years of teaching experience after age 18
5. Ten (10) I ratings at four different age levels earned at IMTA District Auditions in the course of a five year period
6. Four (4) I ratings at any age level earned at IMTA State Auditions in the course of a five year period
7. Renewable every five years until MTNA Permanent Certification is reached by entering a minimum of five (5) students who receive I ratings through IMTA District Auditions throughout the five year period.

Application Procedure:

Members wishing to receive the IMTA Adjudicator Certificate should address a request for the application form to the chairman of the certification board or download the application form from IMTA website. Fee for this certificate is $25.00.

Evidence of Adjudicator Certificate:

· A certificate for studio display
· Publicity of name on judges list in Iowa Music Teacher magazine and on IMTA website
· News Release for publicity in your local newspaper
· An IMTA Certified Teacher lapel pin
